Intensive care cream for flare-ups of Atopic Dermatitis and Atopic Eczema
Atopic skin is dry, irritable and itchy. This itchiness induces scratching which triggers the itch-scratch cycle. Symptoms worsen and can get in the way of a good night’s sleep and have a negative impact on quality of life. Eucerin AtopiControl Acute Care Cream has been specially formulated to offer relief and intensive care for skin undergoing a flare-up of Atopic Dermatitis and Atopic Eczema. The formula has a unique active ingredient complex of soothing Licochalcone A, anti-bacterial Decanediol and anti-itching and cooling Methoxypropandiol (MPD). This complex, combined with a high concentration of Ceramides, strengthens skin’s barrier, alleviates dryness and relieves itchiness at a sensory level, thereby reducing the need to scratch. Fragrance-free, the cream for Atopic Dermatitis and Atopic Eczema flare-ups can be applied as often as needed on affected areas and has been shown to support sleep and improve quality of life for those with Atopic Dermatitis. Suitable for adults, children and babies from four weeks.

Licochalcone A is a potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant active that is derived from the roots of the Chinese licorice plant Glycyrrhiza inflata. Licochalcone A protects cells from oxidative stress mediated by UV and blue light (HEVIS).
Licochalcone A is able to activate anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and detoxifying enzymes. These enzymes protect the skin cells from damage induced by oxidative stress, like lipid peroxidation and DNA as wells as protein damage. Licochalcone A is able to soothe irritated skin and redness.
Decanediol shows antibacterial efficacy against a broad spectrum of microbes, in particular against Cutibacterium acnes.
Ceramides are important lipids in the hydrolipid film (which protects the external layers of skin). Produced naturally in healthy skin, they strengthen the skin barrier, helping to prevent moisture loss due to evaporation and keeping out irritants that can cause inflammation and itching. When skin’s Ceramide levels fall the skin barrier is impaired. Skin can start to lose water and become dry and irritated.
Eucerin uses synthetic Ceramides that are biologically-identical and that enhance skin’s natural barrier – locking in moisture and preventing dryness and irritation.
Evening Primrose Oil is a natural plant oil that contains a high percentage of Omega-6 fatty acids, namely Linoleic and Gamma-Linolenic Acid. These help stabilise the skin’s natural protective barrier and reduce moisture loss, which in turn soothes and nourishes rough and dry skin.
Grape Seed Oil is a rich source of essential fatty acids and Vitamin E. The polyphenols and flavonoids found in Grape Seed Oil are strong anti-oxidant compounds and, thus, provide protection from damage caused by free radicals while Linoleic acid soothes and nourishes skin.
